Coffee made its way to Yemen from nearby Ethiopia nearly 2,000 years ago, and coffee production continues today much in the  same tradition as it has for years. Coffee is naturally processed and dried on the rooftops of houses perched on steep cliff sides.  
This coffee is sourced from 15 producers on  family owned farms located in the western highlands of Yemen, near the Red Sea.  They work with an exporting company called Pearl of Tehama . This partnership provides producers with technical knowledge and logistical support.
